LPGA State Farm Classic Tournament

The LPGA State Farm Classic was a golf tournament that took place for more than 30 years on the LPGA Tour, played in the Springfield, Illinois, area.

Sandra Palmer won the first tournament and Yani Tseng the last. Betsy King was the only 3-time winner; 2-time champs included JoAnne Carner, Beth Daniel, Pat Bradley and Nancy Lopez. In the 2000 tournament, Laurel Kean won after Monday qualifying, the first golfer in LPGA history to do that.

Two other LPGA firsts happened here, both by the same golfer. The first time any golfer carded a 28 over nine holes was by Mary Beth Zimmerman in the 1984 tournament; that record for lowest 9-hole score on the LPGA wasn't broken until 2005. Zimmerman also was the first golfer in LPGA history to record eight consecutive birdies, a record that wasn't broken until 1999.

First played: 1976

Last played: 2011

Also known as: In its first year it was the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Classic, then the Rail Charity Golf Classic. State Farm became title sponsor in 1993.
