Which Players Have Won the Most Solheim Cup Points?

The history of the Solheim Cup, the biennial competition between Team Europe and Team USA, dates to 1990. In that time, which golfer has earned the most points for her team? The record-holder is Laura Davies, with 25 points won. Davies barely beats out Annika Sorenstam for this record.

In the Solheim Cup, golfers earn one point by winning a match, and a half-point by tying a match. In Davies' case, she won 22 matches total, for 22 points; and halved (tied) another six matches, earning three more points: 25 points total.

These are the golfers who've won the most points in Solheim Cup history:

Laura Davies, Team Europe, 25 points

Davies played 46 matches total spread over 12 appearances in the Solheim Cup: 1990, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011.
  • Overall record (wins-losses-halves): 22-18-6 (54.3% winning percentage)
  • Fourball: 9-7-3 (10.5 points)
  • Foursomes: 8-6-1 (8.5 points)
  • Singles: 5-5-2 (6 points)
Ironic that the all-time leader in points earned has the lowest winning percentage (54.3-percent) among the golfers who make this list. But Davies simply played so much in the Solheim Cup that she piled up the points. And her winning percentage is just 0.1 percentage points behind Juli Inkster's, who also makes this list.

Annika Sorenstam, Team Europe, 24 points

Sorenstam played in 37 matches over eight Solheim Cups: 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007.
  • Overall record (wins-losses-halves): 22-11-4 (64.9% winning percentage)
  • Fourball: 7-5-2 (8 points)
  • Foursomes: 11-3-1 (11.5 points)
  • Singles: 4-3-1 (4.5 points)
Among the golfers on this list, Sorenstam has the best winning percentage at 65-percent.

Catriona Matthew, Team Europe, 22 points

Matthew played in 37 matches over nine Solheim Cups: 1998, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017.
  • Overall record (wins-losses-halves): 18-11-8 (59.4% winning percentage)
  • Fourball: 4-4-3 (5.5 points)
  • Foursomes: 8-5-4 (10 points)
  • Singles: 6-2-1 (6.5 points)
Matthew shares the Solheim Cup record for most singles wins with six.

Cristie Kerr, Team USA, 21 points

Kerr played in 38 matches over nine appearances in the Solheim Cup: 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017.
  • Overall record (wins-losses-halves): 18-14-6 (55.2% winning percentage)
  • Fourball: 11-5-1 (11.5 points)
  • Foursomes: 4-5-3 (5.5 points)
  • Singles: 3-4-2 (4 points)
Kerr is Team USA's all-time leader in Solheim Cup points.

Suzann Pettersen, Team Europe, 21 points

Pettersen played in 36 career matches in the Solheim Cup, making nine playing appearances: 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2019.
  • Overall record (wins-losses-halves): 18-12-6 (58.3% winning percentage)
  • Fourball: 9-3-1 (9.5 points)
  • Foursomes: 7-5-2 (8 points)
  • Singles: 2-4-3 (3.5 points)
Pettersen had a sub-.500 record in singles matches, but in her very last singles match, vs. Marina Alex in the 2019 Solheim Cup, she did something special. Pettersen won the Cup for Team Europe by sinking the last putt of her match in the last match of the competition.

Paula Creamer, Team USA, 19.5 points

Creamer played in 31 matches over seven Solheim Cup appearances: 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017.
  • Overall record (wins-losses-halves): 17-9-5 (62.9% winning percentage)
  • Fourball: 5-3-2 (6 points)
  • Foursomes: 7-4-3 (8.5 points)
  • Singles: 5-2-0 (5 points)
Among those on this list, second only to Sorenstam in winning percentage. Creamer's 31 matches played are the fewest by any of the golfers listed here.

Juli Inkster, Team USA, 18.5 points

Inkster played in 34 matches over her nine appearances in the Solheim Cup: 1992, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011.
  • Overall record (wins-losses-halves): 15-12-7 (54.4% winning percentage)
  • Fourball: 3-5-2 (4 points)
  • Foursomes: 6-6-3 (7.5 points)
  • Singles: 6-1-2 (7 points)
Inkster is in a virtual tie (just a smidge higher) with Davies for lowest win percentage. But her 6-1-2 singles record is tops in Solheim Cup singles history.
