2026 Masters Tournament Winner and Scores
The 2026 Masters Tournament was the 90th time this golf tournament was played. And for the second year in a row, the winner was Rory McIlroy.
Winner: Rory McIlroy, 276
Where it was played: Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia
Tournament dates: April 9-12, 2026
Leaders after first round: Sam Burns, Rory McIlroy, 67
Leader after second round: Rory McIlroy, 132
Leader after third round: Rory McIlroy, Cameron Young, 205
Notes: Rory McIlroy held or shared the lead following each round of the 2026 Masters, then held on for a one-stroke victory. It was his second year in a row winning this major championship, making him just the fourth golfer ever to win back-to-back Masters titles.
McIlroy opened with a 67, and in the second round added a 65. That gave him a 132 total and the look of a golfer who would run away with it: His 6-stroke lead was the largest 36-hole lead in Masters history. But a 73 in the third round caused that lead to evaporate, and McIlroy entered the final round tied with Cameron Young for the lead.
McIlroy, Young and Justin Rose (who lost in a playoff to McIlroy at the 2025 Masters) all had or shared the lead at different points on the front nine of the final round. But on the back nine, McIlroy eventually built a 3-stroke edge. Scottie Scheffler made a late charge and posted 277. McIlroy still led by two when he reached the final hole.
He hit a badly wayward drive on that final hole, though, and then dumped his approach into the front bunker. A good bunker recovery left him two putts for the victory. The final-hole bogey didn't matter, McIlroy was champion again.
