Lowest Final Round Scores By PGA Tour Winners

The PGA Tour traces its origins to 1916. Over that long span of time, what is the tour record for lowest final-round score by a tournament winner? Which golfers have gone the lowest in the final round to win a tournament?

The best final-round score ever by a golfer who won the PGA Tour tournament is 59, a score that has happened twice in the final round by tourney champions. And several other times, a golf scored 60 in the final round to win a PGA Tour event.

The earliest of those very low, last-round scores — the first of the two 59s on the following list — was recorded in 1999. The other scores on the list have all happened since 2010.

List: Best Final-Round Scores to Win PGA Tour Event

  • 59 — David Duval, 1999 Bob Hope Chyrsler Classic (fifth round of 90-hole tournament). Started final round in 13th place, seven strokes off the lead. Won by one stroke over Steve Pate. Scored 70-71-64-70-59 for a 334 total, 26-under par.
  • 59 — Stuart Appleby, 2010 Greenbrier Classic. Trailed third-round leader Jeff Overton by seven strokes entering the final round. After his 59, won by one shot over Overton.
  • 60 — Tommy Gainey, 2012 RSM Classic. "Two Gloves" was seven shots behind at the start of the final round. Following his 60, he had a one-stroke victory over runner-up David Toms.
  • 60 — Wyndham Clark, 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (third round of tournament shortened to 54 holes due to weather). Was six shots behind when the third round (that turned out to be the final round) began. After his 60, he had a one-stroke lead over one of the second-round co-leaders, Ludvig Aberg. When rain washed out the final round, Clark had the victory.
  • 60 — Wyndham Clark, 2026 CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Clark makes a second appearance on this short list. After three rounds, he was two behind the leader, Si Woo Kim. Following another 60, Clark won by three over runner-up Kim.
Duval's 59 in the 1999 Bob Hope Classic has to rate as one of the greatest rounds in PGA Tour history. At the time, it was just the third 59 ever scored on the PGA Tour. And it happened in the final round (the fifth round, the Hope was a five-round tournament at the time) to propel him to victory. Plus, he finished it off with an eagle on the 90th hole, for both the win and the 59.

Appleby's 59 was the fifth in PGA Tour history. He closed out the round and earned the victory in the 2010 Greenbrier by birdying the final three holes.

Of course, one of those most notable things about the list above is that Clark appears on it twice. It should also be noted, though, that when Clark scored 60 in the third round of the 2024 Pebble Beach Pro-Am, nobody knew that was the final round. The following day, heavy storms postponed play until the fourth round was finally canceled and Clark declared the winner.
