Scottie Scheffler's record on the PGA Tour, beginning in the early 2020s, was extraordinary. But what about his record in playoffs? With the sudden-death format, great golfers don't necessarily have great playoff records. So let's find out what Scheffler's record looks like.
So far, Scheffler has played four playoffs on the PGA Tour. He's won two and lost two.
All of the playoffs listed below are of the sudden-death variety, which means that the playoff progresses hole-by-hole until one golfer wins it by posting a lower score than the other participants. Scheffler's PGA Tour Playoff Record: 2-2
Scheffler's first win on the PGA Tour happened in 2022, and so did his first PGA Tour playoff. In fact, that first playoff is how Scheffler got that first win.These are Scheffler's PGA Tour playoffs (a W or L in parentheses indicates wins and losses):
- 2022 WM Phoenix Open (W): Scheffler's first victory on the PGA Tour happened in a sudden-death playoff against Patrick Cantlay. Scheffler scored 62-67 on the weekend, making up six strokes on Cantlay over the third and fourth rounds to force the playoff. Each parred the first two playoff holes, then Scheffler birdied the third hole to win.
- 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge (L): Scheffler lost to Sam Burns in this playoff when Burns birdied the first extra hole.
- 2024 Travelers Championship (W): Career win No. 12 for Scheffler, who defeated Tom Kim by parring the first playoff hole.
- 2026 RBC Heritage (L): Scheffler got into this playoff when Matt Fitzpatrick bogeyed the final hole. But then Fitzpatrick birdied the same hole to win the playoff.
Scheffler's Other Playoffs
Before his PGA Tour rookie season of 2020, Scheffler spent one year on the Korn Ferry Tour. He won twice and earned Player of the Year honors. He also played two playoffs on the Korn Ferry Tour that year, winning one and losing one:- 2019 Korn Ferry Nashville Golf Open (L): Lost to Robby Shelton, who birdied the first extra hole.
- 2019 Korn Ferry Evans Scholars Invitational (W): Scheffler defeated Marcelo Rozo with a birdie on the second playoff hole. This was Scheffler's first professional victory.
