Golfers qualify for the 2026 U.S. Senior Open by meeting certain criteria such as being a past champion, or ranking high on the Champions Tour money list. Golfers who meet any of those criteria are exempt from playing in qualifying tournaments.

Those who do not have an exemption must play their way in through local and/or final qualifying tournaments. Local qualifiers are taking place from early April through early May. Final qualifying begins on May 18.

2026 U.S. Senior Open Golf Course: Scioto CC

Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, is the site of the 2026 U.S. Senior Open. This course is most-famous today as the place where young Jack Nicklaus learned and honed his game in his youth, but the club has a very rich tradition of tournaments and champions.

Scioto was originally designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1916. Nicklaus led a renovation in 2008, and the course was touched up again in 2021. It is one of five golf courses (as of 2026) in the United States that have hosted each of the U.S. Open, PGA Championship, Ryder Cup and U.S. Amateur tournaments.

The 2026 tournament will be the third time the USSO is played at Scioto. The previous years and winners:

  • 1986 U.S. Senior Open: Dale Douglass
  • 2016 U.S. Senior Open: Gene Sauers
