What Happened in the 2025 U.S. Senior Open
Padraig Harrington's victory in the 2025 U.S. Senior Open was his second, after previously winning the tournament in 2022. He was the eighth golfer in the tournament's history to win multiple titles, and it was also his 10th overall win on the Champions Tour.The 53-year-old Harrington won by one stroke over runner-up Stewart Cink, with Miguel Angel Jimenez another stroke back in third place. Jimenez — who won another senior major, the Senior Players Championship, just the week before — closed with a 64, the low round of the tournament.
Harrington shot 67 in final round, Cink 68. Mark Hensby, the first-round leader, shared first place with Harrington and Cink after both the second and third rounds. But Hensby fell back in the final round with a 73.
In that final round, Hensby had a couple early bogeys, but Harrington and Cink matched 33s on the front nine. They traded the lead on a couple holes early in the back nine, then Harrington went ahead when Cink bogeyed No. 15.
On both the 16th and 17th holes, Cink hit approach shots to eight feet or less from the cup. But he missed both birdie putts.
On the final hole, Harrington hit a 313-yard drive, then knocked his approach to within seven feet of the hole. Cink had a significantly longer birdie attempt, and missed. Harrington then 2-putted for par and the victory.
