Most Wins in the Same LPGA Tournament: These Are the Record-Holders

Which LPGA golfers hold the record for winning the same tournament the most times? Four golfers share that record, and all four are Hall of Famers. The record is five wins in a single event. (Meaning, for example, that Golfer X won the Podunk Open five times over the course of her career.)

Annika Sorenstam Won 2 Different Tournaments 5 Times Each

Although Sorenstam shares this record with four other golfers, it's probably OK to go ahead and refer to her as the record-holder. Because Annika is the only golfer in LPGA history to win the same tournament five times each ... twice.

Sorenstam won the Samsung World Championship five times. And she won the Mizuno Classic five times.

The five Mizuno Classic wins were an even bigger feat because Sorenstam won them consecutively. Fives wins in the same tournament, five wins a row: She won the LPGA's Japan event in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005. And yes, if you're wondering, winning the same tournament five years in a row is also an LPGA record.

The Samsung Championship was a limited-field event (usually around 20 golfers played), and Sorenstam won it 1995, 1996, 2002, 2004 and 2005. So she completed her fivesome of trophies at both the Mizuno and Samsung tournaments in 2005.

The Other LPGA Golfers Who Won the Same Tournament 5 Times

The three other golfers who share the record for most wins in the same LPGA Tour tournament are Mickey Wright, Kathy Whitworth and Se Ri Pak.

Wright won the Sea Island Open in 1957, 1958, 1960, 1962 and 1963. That tournament was played only nine times total, so Wright won more than half of them.

Whitworth won the St. Petersburg Women's Open (also called the Orange Blossom Classic) in 1965, 1968, 1969, 1970 and 1974.

And Pak joined this list most recently. She won the LPGA's Toledo tournament, the Jamie Farr Classic as it was mostly called during Pak's years, in 1998, 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2007.
