Smith began the final round four strokes behind third-round leader Rory McIlroy. McIlroy didn't play poorly, he just couldn't sink any birdie putts from the 11th hole one, just missing several. In the end, McIlroy carded a 70 to Smith's 64 and finish in third place, two behind.

The runner-up with Smith's playing partner and fellow Cameron, Cameron Young. Young closed with a 65 that included an eagle on the 18th hole to leapfrog McIlroy into second place.
