2024 PGA Championship Winner and Final Scores

The 2024 PGA Championship was the 106th edition of this tournament. The winner was a first-time major champion who set a scoring record in the first round and sank the winning putt with the final stroke of the tournament.

Winner: Xander Schauffele, 263

Where it was played: Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky

Tournament dates: May 15-19, 2024

Leader after first round: Xander Schauffele, 62

Leader after second round: Xander Schauffele, 130

Leaders after third round: Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, 198

Notes: With the final stroke of the tournament, Xander Schauffele made a 6-foot birdie putt, just catching the lip of the cup, to win by one stroke over runner-up Bryson DeChambeau. ... Schauffele set a tournament scoring record with a 62 in the first round. He also had a 62 in the 2023 U.S. Open, making him the first golfer with two 62s in majors. ... It took only two rounds for someone to tie Shauffele, however. In the third round of the 2024 PGA Championship, Shane Lowry became the second golfer with a 62 in this major.

Schauffele led by one at the mid-point, and was tied for the lead with Collin Morikawa after 54 holes. DeChambeau was two back as the final round began, but then scored 64 for the round. On the 16th hole DeChambeau appeared headed for trouble, but his badly wayward drive struck trees and bounced back into the fairway. He birdied the hole, then birdied No. 18 to post 20-under 264.

But Schauffele was in control of his game all day, and fired his own 65. He birdied 11 and 12, then had five consecutive pars before sinking his winning birdie putt on the 18th hole. Schauffele's winning score of 21-under was the lowest in major championship history to this point.

Day 2 had a bizarre start. In the pre-dawn hours, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler was trying to make his way through a traffic jam into the club. He was arrested and taken to jail after he allegedly failed to obey a police officer who was yelling at him to stop his vehicle (Scheffler claimed he was following a different officer's instructions and did not hear the second officer). The officer claimed to have been dragged a short way by Scheffler's car, but eyewitness accounts conflicted and the officer's body cam was turned off. Scheffler was released in time to play the second round, in which he scored 66 and moved up to fourth place. After struggling in the third round, Scheffler, who won the Masters two months earlier, shot 65 and finished tied for eighth.
