Lowest Winning Scores in Senior Players Championship

Among all the winners of the Senior Players Championship, who has won it with the lowest score? Two golfers share that record, and one of them is Jack Nicklaus.

The other is Kenny Perry. Nicklaus in 1990 and Perry in 2013 both won this major championship of men's senior (50-and-over) professional golf with 72-hole stroke totals of 261. Nicklaus recorded that score on a par-72 course, and his score in relation to par — 27-under — is also a record for this event.

Nicklaus' 261 gave him a six-stroke victory over runner-up Lee Trevino. In Perry's case, he won by five shots over second-place Fred Funk.

Nicklaus scored 65-68-64-64 to compile his 261 total in 1990. At the time, that 261 wasn't just the scoring record for this senior major, but the all-time lowest, 72-hole stroke total for the Champions Tour. That record has since been lowered, but it took until 2012 until anyone beat Nicklaus' 261 in any Champions Tour tournament.

In 2013, when Perry tied Nicklaus' Senior Players Championship scoring record, he carded rounds of 71-63-63-64.
