1950 Curtis Cup Winner and Match Scores

The 1950 Curtis Cup was the sixth time this tournament was played, and the fifth time it was won by the United States. Following the result, the all-time standings were five wins for the USA, none for Great Britain & Ireland, with one tie.

Final Score: USA 7.5, Great Britain & Ireland 1.5

Dates Played: September 4-5, 1950

Location: Country Club of Buffalo in Williamsville, New York

Team Captains: Diana Fishwick Critchley for GB&I, Glenna Collett Vare for USA.

Team Rosters:

Notes: Team USA's 6-point win over Team Great Britain & Ireland was also its largest victory to this point in Curtis Cup history. For Team GB&I, only the foursomes duo of Frances Stephens and Elizabeth Price managed a win.

The USA side featured Polly Riley, who this same year won the very first LPGA Tour tournament ever played; and Beverly Hanson, who went on to win three LPGA major championships.

Amateur legend Glenna Collett Vare was the captain for Team USA. She had been a part of every Curtis Cup yet played, either as a player or captain (and twice as both). This her fourth time serving as team captain, and her final appearance as a player or captain in the competition.

For the first time, all matches were 36 holes. In all previous Curtis Cups, they had been only 18 holes.
