Golfers Who Won Women's PGA, Chevron Championships in Same Year
The Women's PGA Championship (list of winners) was first played in 1955 and was known as the LPGA Championship from that time through 2014.
The Chevron Championship (list of winners) was first played in 1972 but not elevated to major championship status until 1983. Its previous names include Colgate-Dinah Shore Winner's Circle, Nabisco Dinah Shore, Nabisco Championship, Kraft Nabisco Championship, and ANA Inspiration.
These are the only golfers so far who've won both these majors in the same LPGA Tour season:
Pat Bradley, 1986
In April of 1986, in what was then called the Nabisco Dinah Shore, Bradley took a three-stroke lead into the final round. She scored 71 in that final round to win by two over Val Skinner. About two months later, in the LPGA Championship, Bradley went into the final round four strokes behind the leader. But she scored 68 in the last round to win by one over Patty Sheehan.Bradley won three of the four majors played in 1986, also taking the du Maurier Classic.
Annika Sorenstam, 2005
At the Chevron Championship (then called the Kraft Nabisco Championship), Sorenstam ran away from the field to win by eight strokes. It was her third and last victory in this major. She won by a comfortable margin at the Women's PGA Championship, too, beating runner-up Michelle Wie (a 15-year-old amateur at the time) by three strokes. It was her third consecutive win in the LPGA Championship, and the ninth of her 10 career major championship wins.
Inbee Park, 2013
Park went into the final round of the 2013 Chevron Championship with a three-stroke lead. When that round was over, she had a four-stroke victory over runner-up So Yeon Ryu. In the Women's PGA Championship, Park and Catriona Matthew tied at 283 for 72 holes. In the sudden-death playoff, Park won on the third extra hole with a birdie.Just like Bradley in 1986, in 2013 Park won three of the LPGA majors played that year. A couple weeks after her Women's PGA victory, Park added the 2013 U.S. Women's Open title.
