Tiger Woods' PGA Tour Finishes As An Amateur

Tiger Woods appeared in multiple PGA Tour tournaments before he turned pro, beginning when he was 16 years old. How did he do in those tournaments? Below, we list them — all the PGA Tour events Woods played as an amateur, including his scores and where he finished.

In all, Woods appeared in 14 PGA Tour tournaments as an amateur, over the course of five years, from age 16 through age 20. During that time, Woods was absolutely dominant at the amateur level, completing a run of three consecutive wins in the U.S. Boys' Junior, followed by three successive wins in the U.S. Amateur Championship. But his record in those 14 PGA Tour events might be just a bit less impressive than you would guess.

A few firsts for Woods in PGA Tour tournaments:

Woods' best round as an amateur in a PGA Tour event was a 66 in the second round of that 1996 British Open. A couple months after that, Woods made his debut as a pro golfer in the 1996 Greater Milwaukee Open.
