72-Hole Scoring Record in The Masters Tournament

What is the best score ever posted in The Masters Tournament for 72 holes? The lowest winning score ever is 268, and that total was recorded recently — breaking one of Tiger Woods' records.

In this article, we take a look at the best-ever 72-hole scoring totals in The Masters. Plus we show the progression of The Masters' 72-hole record over time, going back to the first Masters in 1934.

Current Record: 268 by Dustin Johnson

Dustin Johnson's 268 total in winning the 2020 Masters wasn't just the first sub-270 score in tournament history, it was also the first 20-under score in relation to par. It was an extraordinary tournament in other ways, too: It was the only Masters played in November, and the only one played without spectators (both due to the COVID pandemic).

A pair of 65s propelled Johnson's victory. He recorded that score in both the first and third rounds. He had a 70 in Round 2, and closed with a 68 in the final round. Johnson won by five strokes over runners-up Sungjae Im and Cameron Smith. He had 20 birdies and two eagles over his four rounds.

Johnson lowered the previous Masters 72-hole scoring record by two strokes. He broke the mark of 270, originally set by Tiger Woods in 1997 and tied by Jordan Spieth in 2015.
