2025 Ryder Cup: Dates, Golf Course, Schedule

The 2025 Ryder Cup will be the 45th time this competition is played. One of the most-watched golf tournaments of the year in the years it is played (it is an every-other-year competition), the Ryder Cup pits teams representing Europe and the United States. The teams are comprised of the top male professional golfers from each region.

2025 Ryder Cup Dates and Tickets

The tournament will take place in September of 2025. The specific dates have not yet been announced. But the Ryder Cup is always played on a Friday-Saturday-Sunday schedule (see below).

Those interested in tickets for the competition should sign up for email alerts from the PGA of America, which can be done at this page. Keep an eye on that page for future updates.

Where the 2025 Ryder Cup Will Be Played

The site of the 2025 Ryder Cup is Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York, on Long Island. The Black Course at Bethpage State Park has not previously hosted a Ryder Cup. It has, though, been the site of major championships.

The 2002 U.S. Open was played at Bethpage Black, and won by Tiger Woods. The 2009 U.S. Open also took place there, that one won by Lucas Glover. And Brooks Koepka won the 2019 PGA Championship there. The PGA Tour has also played FedEx Cup playoff tournaments at Bethpage Black.

Captains and Team Selection

Based on past history, we should expect the announcement of the 2025 Ryder Cup team captains to be made within a few months after the completion of the 2023 Ryder Cup.

Recent Ryder Cups have seen changes almost with each competition to the way each side selects its 12 golfers. So the exact method of choosing the Team USA and Team Europe team rosters may change again. But in 2023, the selection methods were these:

  • Team USA was comprised of the top six players in the point rankings plus six captain's picks.
  • Team Europe was comprised of the first three players from the European Points List, the top three eligible golfers from the world points lists, plus six captain's picks.

2025 Ryder Cup Schedule

The Ryder Cup is played over three days, using foursomes, fourball and singles formats. Although we don't yet know the specific dates of the competition, we do know that it will be played on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Barring any rain delays, then, the match schedule will look like this:
  • Thursday: Opening ceremonies
  • Friday: 4 foursome matches and 4 fourball matches
  • Saturday: 4 foursome matches and 4 fourball matches
  • Sunday: 12 singles matches, closing ceremonies
There are 28 points total at stake; a team must win 14.5 points to win the Ryder Cup. However, the team that holds the Cup entering the tournament can retain the Cup by winning only 14 points.
