2026 British Open Winner and Scores

The 2026 British Open was the 154th edition of this major championship of men's professional golf. Ryan Fox, after scoring 62 in the third round, birdied the final hole of the tournament to win by one stroke.

Notes:Three golfers tied both the 18-hole British Open scoring record and 18-hole major championship scoring record with 62s: Lucas Herbert and Sam Burns in the second round, and Ryan Fox in the third round. It was Fox who wound up the victor in the 2026 British Open.

Herbert took a two-stroke lead at the midway point following his second round 62. But Burns followed his own Round 2 62 with a 65 in the third round, and that 127 total for the middle 36 holes set a new British Open record for lowest back-to-back rounds.

Burns was the third-round leader at 200, with Fox, following his third-round 62, two strokes behind and tied for second.

In the final round, Burns scored 72 to finish third, while Herbert had his second 71 in a row and slipped into sixth place. Cameron Young, though, surged up the leaderboard with a 64 to set the clubhouse lead at 9-under 271.

For nearly three hours, Young had the lead and waited to see if anyone would catch or beat it. And Fox finally did, but only by sinking a 10-foot birdie putt on the final hole.
