PGA Tour Greenbrier Classic Tournament

First played: 2010

Also known as: In its final two years the tournament had the name "A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier."

2019 — Joaquin Niemann, 259

There were multiple rounds of 59 recorded in the Greenbrier Classic's short history. The first was in the tournament's first year and by its first champion. Stuart Appleby carded a 59 in the final round of the inaugural Greenbrier Championship in 2010, just low enough to secure a one-stroke victory. It was Appleby's ninth and final win on the PGA Tour.

The second was by Kevin Chappell in the second round in 2019. And at one point during his 59, Chappell reeled off nine birdies in a row, tying the PGA Tour record for consecutive birdies. (Unlike Appleby, Chappell didn't win — he finished 47th.)

This tournament didn't always draw the strongest fields, but in 2012 both Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson played. And both of those superstars missed the cut — the first time ever Woods and Mickelson both missed the cut in the same tournament.

Xander Schauffele's one-stroke victory in 2017 was his first on the PGA Tour.

The tournament's final winner, Joaquin Niemann, was also a first-time champ and the first golfer from Chile to win on the PGA Tour. He was also just 20 years old when he won "A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier" in 2019. At the time he was one of just several golfers aged 20 or younger to win on the PGA Tour since 1970.
