Most 2nd-Place Finishes in Women's PGA Championship

Mickey Wright has the most wins in Women's PGA Championship history with four. Which golfers have finished second most often? Three golfers share that record, each posting three runner-up finishes in this major.

The Women's PGA Championship is one of the LPGA majors, the tournament formerly known as the LPGA Championship. It is run now by the PGA of America.

These are the three golfers who share the tournament record with three second-place finishes each:

• Louise Suggs: Runner-up in 1955, 1960 and 1961. Suggs won 11 LPGA majors total, and she did win the LPGA Championship: In 1957, she beat runner-up Wiffi Smith by three strokes. But she was second, three behind Beverly Hanson, in 1955, the very first year this tournament was played. In 1960 Suggs was runner-up by three to Mickey Wright. And in 1961 she was second to Wright again, albeit by nine strokes.

• JoAnne Carner: Second in 1974, 1982 and 1992. Carner won 43 times on the LPGA Tour including two U.S. Women's Open, but never won the Women's PGA Championship. Her second-place finishes were by two strokes to Sandra Haynie in 1974; by two strokes to Jan Stephenson in 1982; and by 11 strokes to Betsy King in 1992.

• Pat Bradley: Second-place finisher in 1977, 1984 and 1991. Bradley won six majors among her 31 LPGA wins, one of them the 1986 LPGA Championship. Her second-place finishes were by three shots to Chako Higuchi in 1977; by 10 to Patty Sheehan in 1984; and by one to Meg Mallon in 1991.
