Largest Margin of Victory in Evian Championship

The Evian Championship is one of the five majors in women's professional golf. And a few of its winners have posted big margins of victory. Below are the largest of those winning margins in The Evian.

Evian's Biggest Winning Margins as a Major

The Evian Championship has been played since 1994, but it was elevated to major championship status on the LPGA Tour only beginning in 2013. Since 2013, as a major championship, these are the largest margins of victory in The Evian:
  • 6 strokes — Lydia Ko, 2015 (scored 268, runner-up was Lexi Thompson)
  • 6 strokes — Celine Boutier, 2023 (scored 270, runner-up was Brooke Henderson)
  • 4 strokes — In-Gee Chun, 2016 (scored 263, runners-up were Sung-Hyun Park and So-Yeon Ryu)
Ko was 18 years old when she first established the record in 2015. She won by scoring 63 in the final round, which was the lowest final round by a major winner to that point. And she also became the youngest major winner in any of the LPGA majors.

All-Time Margin of Victory Record for Evian Championship

As noted above, this tournament dates to 1994. From 1994-99, The Evian was a tournament on the Ladies European Tour (LET), but was not an official LPGA Tour event. In 2000, the LPGA began cosanctioning the tournament, so from 2000-2012 The Evian was an LPGA/LET tournament but not yet a major. Then in 2013, it became a major championship.

These are the largest winning margins in the Evian Championship over the full course of its history:

  • 8 strokes — Paula Creamer, 2005 (scored 273, runners-up Lorena Ochoa and Michelle Wie)
  • 6 strokes — Juli Inkster, 2003 (scored 267, runner-up Hee-Won Han)
  • 6 strokes — Lydia Ko, 2015 (scored 268, runner-up was Lexi Thompson)
