Lowest Score After 3 Rounds in The Masters

What is the Masters Tournament record for lowest score after three rounds, or 54 holes? That record is 200 strokes, and the mark is currently shared by two golfers.

Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson are the record-holders. Spieth was the first to complete the first three rounds of The Masters in just 200 strokes in the 2015 Masters. He scored 64 in the first round, 66 in the second, and 70 in the third. Johnson tied Spieth's record with a total of 200 after the first three rounds of the 2020 Masters. Johnson scored 65 in Round 1, 70 in Round 2 and 65 in Round 3. Both Spieth and Johnson went on to victories.

The List: Lowest Masters Scores After 54 Holes

  • 200 — Jordan Spieth, 2015, 64-66-70
  • 200 — Dustin Johnson, 2020, 65-70-65
  • 201 — Raymond Floyd, 1976, 65-66-70
  • 201 — Tiger Woods, 1997, 70-66-65
  • 202 — Jack Nicklaus, 1965, 67-71-64
  • 202 — Patrick Reed, 2018, 69-66-67
  • 203 — Seve Ballesteros, 1980, 66-69-68
  • 203 — Greg Norman, 1996, 63-69-71
  • 203 — Francesco Molinari, 2019, 70-67-66
When Spieth lowered the 54-hole record to 2000 in 2015, the previous record of 201 that he bettered had belonged to Raymond Floyd and Tiger Woods.

Only two golfers on the list above failed to win the tournament. The 1996 Masters is where Greg Norman infamously collapsed in the final round. He scored 78 in the final round and finished second. Nick Faldo was the winner. At the 2019 Masters, Molinari scored 74 in the final round and dropped into a tie for fifth. The winner was Tiger Woods.

Since we've been talking about the first 54 holes of The Masters — the best scores after the first three rounds — let's also throw in a bonus record. What is the Masters record for lowest score over the last 54 holes — over the final three rounds (Rounds 2, 3 and 4)? That record is 201 and it belongs to Tiger Woods, who scored 66-65-69 in Rounds 2-4 of the 1997 Masters.
