Oldest Winners of U.S. Senior Women's Open

The U.S. Senior Women's Open is open to golfers aged 50 and older. But among its 50-and-older champs so far, who was the oldest? A 57-year-old.

The U.S. Senior Women's Open, run by the USGA, was first played very recently, in 2018. It is easily the youngest of the USGA's open national championship tournaments. But these are its oldest winners so far:

  • 57 years, 7 months, 10 days old — Trish Johnson, 2023
  • 54 years, 9 months, 10 days old — Laura Davies, 2018
  • 54 years, 1 month, 10 days old — Helen Alfredsson, 2019
The record-holder, Trish Johnson, won the 2023 U.S. Senior Women's Open at age 57, so far the only golfer 55 or older to win. She took the lead with a 67 in the third round, then scored 72 in the fourth round. That was good for a one-stroke victory over runner-up Leta Lindley.

Before hitting the age level for senior golf, Johnson was a 3-time winner on the LPGA Tour, and won 19 times on the Ladies European Tour. (That's good for third place on the list of golfers with the most LET victories.) At the time of her U.S. Senior Women's Open win, Johnson also held the record as oldest winner on the Ladies European Tour. After hitting the age for senior golf, Johnson won three senior majors — she also has a pair of Senior LPGA Championship victories.
