Consecutive Multi-Win Seasons on PGA Tour

Putting together a streak of consecutive PGA Tour seasons with at least one win is tough. But winning at least two times a year for multiple years in a row? Obviously, much more difficult. But the golfers on the following list managed to do it — for at least five years running.

Not surprisingly, the golfer who holds the PGA Tour record for consecutive years with multiple wins is Jack Nicklaus. Nicklaus recorded two or more victories in 17 consecutive PGA Tour seasons in the 1960s and 1970s. Sixty-eight of his 73 career tour wins happened during that streak.

Nobody else is even close to Nicklaus, whose 17-year streak of multi-win PGA Tour seasons is nearly twice as long as the next golfers on the list.

These are all the golfers who've had streaks of five years of more with multiple wins on the PGA Tour:

  YearsSpanWins
Jack Nicklaus 17 1962-78 68
Arnold Palmer 9 1956-64 43
Billy Casper 9 1962-70 33
Lloyd Mangrum 7 1947-53 28
Walter Hagen 6 1919-24 21
Walter Hagen 6 1926-32 15
Gene Sarazen 6 1927-32 24
Byron Nelson 6 1937-42 17
Sam Snead 6 1937-42 29
Cary Middlecoff 6 1948-53 24
Tom Watson 6 1977-82 29
Phil Mickelson 6 2005-09 16
Harry Cooper 5 1934-38 16
Johnny Revolta 5 1934-38 16
Henry Picard 5 1935-39 19
Ralph Guldahl 5 1936-40 13
Ben Hogan 5 1945-49 37
Lee Trevino 5 1970-74 16
Tiger Woods 5 1999-2003 32
Tiger Woods 5 2005-09 31
Scottie Scheffler 5 2022-26 21

Nicklaus' 17-year streak also tops the list of most consecutive years with at least one PGA Tour win, it's just that Nicklaus won at least twice in all of those years. Palmer ties Nicklaus with 17 years in a row with at least one win, and Casper is third on that list with 16. As you saw above, Palmer and Casper are tied for a distant second behind Nicklaus on the list of consecutive multi-win seasons with nine each.

Tiger Woods? He had a least one PGA Tour win in 14 straight years, but his longest multi-win streak was five years — something he achieved twice. His two five-year streaks are separated by the year 2004, in which Woods won once. Woods is the record-holder, though, in consecutive years with five or more more PGA Tour wins.

Woods is one of two golfers who make the list above twice. Walter Hagen had two separate, 6-year multi-win streaks. And it's worth pointing out that both Sam Snead and Byron Nelson had streaks that ended in 1943, a year that, due to World War II, had only three tournaments that are today counted as PGA Tour events.
