2028 Solheim Cup: Dates, Course, Team Selection
The all-time standings, through the 2024 competition, are 11 wins for Team USA, seven wins for Team Europe, plus one tie.
2028 Solheim Cup dates: September 8-10 (Friday-Sunday)
Golf course: Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky
Team captains: TBA, captains are usually announced within a few months of the completion of the preceding Solheim Cup.

Team Selection
Both teams, Europe and USA, will include 12 golfers. But the identities of those 24 golfers won't be known until just a few weeks prior to the 2028 Solheim Cup. The majority of both squads' players will be selected on the basis of points lists and world rankings, and each team captain will fill out their respective rosters through captain's picks.Each team decides its own selection criteria. For 2028*, this is the criteria for each side:
- Team Europe: All golfers must have Ladies European Tour membership. Team Europe is comprised of the top two golfers on the LET Solheim Cup Points list; the top six golfers in the world rankings; plus four captain's picks.
- Team USA: All golfers must be LPGA Tour members. Team USA is comprised of the top seven players on the U.S. Solheim Cup points list; the next top two golfers from the world rankings; plus three captain's picks.
2028 Solheim Cup Golf Course: Valhalla
Valhalla Golf Club is a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course in Louisville, Kentucky. When the Solheim Cup tees off in September of 2028, Valhalla will become the fourth course to serve as the site of both a Solheim Cup and Ryder Cup (the other three are The Greenbrier, Muirfield Village and Gleneagles).
Valhalla opened in 1986. It is noted for numerous risk-reward holes, including a par-4 with an island green and the par-5 closing hole with a split fairway bisected by a creek. It is a par-71 course that can play as long as 7,458 yards.
Valhalla has not hosted the Solheim Cup before, or any women's major championship. But is has hosted the Ryder Cup along with multiple men's major championships. These are the big (as in major) tournaments played previously at Valhalla, along with their champions:
- 1996 PGA Championship: Mark Brooks, 277 (def. Kenny Perry in playoff)
- 2000 PGA Championship: Tiger Woods, 270 (def. Bob May in playoff)
- 2004 Senior PGA Championship: Hale Irwin, 276
- 2008 Ryder Cup: Team USA, 16.5 to 11.5
- 2011 Senior PGA Championship: Tom Watson, 268 (def. David Eger in playoff)
- 2014 PGA Championship: Rory McIlroy, 268
- 2024 PGA Championship: Xander Schauffele, 263
2028 Solheim Cup Schedule/Format
The 2028 Solheim Cup's competition days are Sept. 8-10, 2028. Like all Solheim Cups, it will be played over three days, Friday through Sunday. The full week of activities begins on Sept. 4 (Monday), and player practice days will be open to the ticket-holding public. The Opening Ceremony will be on Sept. 7 (Thursday).The match schedule will look like this:
- Day 1 (Sept. 8): One session of four foursomes matches, and another session of four fourball matches, 8 points total at stake.
- Day 2 (Sept. 8): One session of four foursomes matches, and another session of four fourball matches, 8 points total at stake.
