Most Consecutive Cuts Made on the LPGA Tour

The golfer who holds the record for making the most cuts in a row on the LPGA Tour doesn't just hold the LPGA Tour record. She made more consecutive cuts than any other player in pro tour history, and by a long shot. Her consecutive cut streak was more than twice as long as Tiger Woods' record-long PGA Tour cut streak.

The record-holder is Jane Blalock, who made 299 consecutive cuts on the LPGA Tour. (Woods' PGA Tour record is 142 consecutive cuts.)

Blalock joined the LPGA Tour in 1969 and, in what turned out to be a Rookie of the Year season, made the cut in every tournament she played. And she did the same thing the next year, and the next ... and every year until 1980. Blalock went nearly 12 full seasons from the time she played her first tournament as a rookie in 1969 until she finally missed a cut in 1980.

The tournament that stopped her streak? The second-to-last event on the 1980 LPGA Tour schedule, the Inamori Golf Classic near San Diego, Calif. It was a tournament Blalock originally planned to skip. But it was a brand-new tournament for the tour, and the LPGA needed some stars to spice up the field. A tour official called Blalock and asked her to play. So she did, even though she wasn't a fan of the golf course. And her streak of 299 consecutive cuts made finally came to an end.

The List: Consecutive LPGA Tour Tournaments Making the Cut

These are the longest-known streaks of consecutive cuts made on the LPGA Tour:
  • 299 — Jane Blalock, 1969-1980, ended on October 10, 1980 at the Inamori Golf Classic
  • 107 — Lorena Ochoa, 2005-2012, streak never ended, Ochoa just stopped playing (more below)
  • 82 — Paula Creamer, 2010-2014, ended in May 2014 at Kingsmill Championship
  • 68 — Annika Sorenstam, 2002-2006, ended in May at the Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill
  • 57 — Karrie Webb, 2010-2013, ended in August at the CN Canadian Women's Open
  • 53 — Lydia Ko, 2012-2015, ended in June at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship
Ochoa retired from the tour following the 2009 season, but due to commitments made another six starts in 2010, making all the cuts, plus one final start in 2012, also making the cut. So, technically, Ochoa's streak never ended. But she hasn't played in an LPGA tournament since 2012, so it's seems safe to say her streak is over.

Some might be wondering: What about the LPGA stars of the 1950s and 1960s, such as Patty Berg, Betsy Rawls, Mickey Wright, Kathy Whitworth? They (and others) are among the biggest winners in LPGA history — Whitworth is the biggest — surely they almost never missed a cut? And that is true. But in the first couple decades of the LPGA Tour, field sizes were smaller than they are today, and tournaments with cuts were a rarity. You can't miss a cut when there is no cut. It wasn't until the late 1960s that tournament cuts became commonplace on the LPGA Tour. Because of that, the LPGA, in its official recordkeeping, does not consider those earliest LPGA superstars for its consecutive cuts made list.

Blalock won 25 LPGA tournaments during her streak of 299 consecutive cuts made. She ended her career with 27 wins, the final two happening in 1985. Blalock holds another record: most wins by any LPGA golfer who never won a major championship.
