16th Hole at Augusta National: Redbud

  • Par: Par 3
  • Length: 170 yards
  • Name: Redbud
The final par-3 hole at Augusta National Golf Course, No. 16 is set up for birdies in the final round of Masters Tournaments and typically produces roars from the crowd. But it's a full carry over water, so there are usually some groans, too.

Three bunkers surround the green, which has a pronounced tilt from right to left. The pond wasn't there originally, it was added in 1947. This is the hole where, during practice rounds prior to the tournament, many players please the fans by trying to skip balls across the surface of the water and onto the green.

Hole 16's namesake Redbud (scientific name: cercis canadensis) is a small tree that, belying its name, puts out pink flowers from early March and into April.
