1967 Walker Cup Winner and Match Scores

The 1967 Walker Cup was the 21st time this competition took place. Following the United States victory, the all-time standings were 19 wins for Team USA, one win for Team GB&I, one tie.

Final Score: United States 13, Great Britain & Ireland 7

Dates Played: May 19-20, 1967

Location: Royal St. George's Golf Club in Sandwich, England

Team Captains: Jess Sweetser for the United States, Joe Carr for Great Britain & Ireland

Team Rosters:

  • USA — Don Allen, William C. Campbell, Ron Cerrudo, Bob Dickson, Marty Fleckman, Jimmy Grant, Downing Gray, Jack Lewis Jr., Bob Murphy, Ed Tutwiler
  • GB&I — Michael Attenborough, Michael Bonallack, Tom Craddock, Rodney Foster, Dudley Millensted, Peter Oosterhuis, Sandy Pirie, Sandy Saddler, Ronnie Shade, Joe Carr (playing captain)
Notes: Team USA put this one away early by winning eight of the 10 matches played on Day 1. For Team USA, William C. Campbell became the first golfer in Walker Cup history to go 4-0-0 in one tournament.

GB&I's Joe Carr was the playing captain, and this was his 10th and final time playing in a Walker Cup. That remains today the record for most Walker Cup playing appearances. It was 20 years after Carr's first time playing for GB&I in the 1947 Walker Cup, and that gap is also a record for the GB&I team.
