1937 PGA Championship Winner and Scores

The 1937 PGA Championship was the 20th time this major was played.

Winner: Denny Shute

Where it was played: Pittsburgh Field Club in Fox Chapel, Pennsylvania

Tournament dates: May 24-30, 1937

Notable notes: Denny Shute defeated Jug McSpaden, 1-up, on the first extra hole of the championship match. It was Shute's second consecutive PGA Championship victory, and he was the last back-to-back winner of this major until Tiger Woods repeated in 1999-2000. ... McSpaden had a four-foot birdie putt to win on the 36th hole, but missed. McSpaden then lipped out an eight-footer on the 37th green that would have extended the match, giving Shute the title. ... To reach the final, Shute beat Joe Turnesa, Olin Dutra, Ed Dudley, Jimmy Hines and Tony Manero.
