1952 PGA Championship Winner and Scores

The 1952 PGA Championship was the 34th time this major was played.

Winner: Jim Turnesa

Where it was played: Big Spring Country Club in Louisville, Kentucky

Tournament dates: June 18-25, 1952

Notable notes: Jim Turnesa defeated Chick Harbert, 1-up, in the championship match. Turnesa never led in the match until the final hole, when Harbert bogeyed. ... At 39 years old, Turnesa became the oldest PGA Champion to this point in the event's history. He supplanted Sam Snead — who beat Turnesa in the final in 1942 — for that title. (Others have since passed Turnesa.) ... Speaking of Snead, he lost in the first round this year. ... Turnesa reached the final by beating Bob Toski, Chandler Harper, Roberto de Vicenzo, Clarence Doser and Ted Kroll.
